Blaze Backyard Classic Wiffle Ball League
Baseball season may be winding down, but the competition does not have to stop. Join us indoors at Blaze Launchpad for a fast-paced youth wiffle ball league featuring weekly games, standings, playoffs, and a championship.
Keep competing after baseball season ends.
The Blaze Backyard Classic brings the feel of backyard wiffle ball indoors for an organized league built around competitive games, simple rules, small teams, and plenty of action.
Small-Team Format
Teams are planned around four-player rosters, creating a format where every player stays involved throughout the game.
Meaningful Regular-Season Games
Teams are scheduled to play seven regular-season games before postseason seeding is finalized.
Everyone Gets a Playoff Shot
Every team advances to the playoffs. Regular-season performance determines seeding, followed by a single-elimination tournament to crown the Backyard Classic champions.
Two age groups. One championship goal.
The league is currently planned with separate divisions for 9–10-year-olds and 11–12-year-olds. Each division is designed for up to 10 teams, subject to final registration numbers.
Ages 9–10
A separate league division designed specifically for players in the 9–10 age group.
Ages 11–12
A separate league division designed specifically for players in the 11–12 age group.
Team counts, roster sizes, game schedules, division structure, and other league details may be adjusted based on the final number of registered participants. Families will receive finalized schedules and league information after registration numbers are confirmed.
Regular season to championship.
The league is designed to give every team meaningful regular-season games followed by a chance to compete for the championship.
Teams Are Finalized
Final teams, rosters, divisions, and schedules will be determined after registration numbers are known.
Play 7 Games
Each team is currently scheduled to play seven regular-season games before the postseason begins.
Earn Your Seed
Regular-season standings determine playoff seeding using the league's win, loss, and tie point system.
Play for the Title
Every team advances to the single-elimination playoffs, culminating in the Blaze Backyard Classic championship.
Eight weeks of league play.
Regular-season games are planned primarily for weekday evenings. Final game assignments and exact times will be released after teams are finalized.
Every team has a path to the championship.
The regular season matters for seeding, but no team is eliminated before the postseason begins.
Everyone Qualifies
Every team advances from the regular season into the playoff bracket.
Standings Set the Seeds
Regular-season results determine each team's position in the postseason bracket.
Single Elimination
Win and advance. The playoff bracket continues until one team is crowned champion in each division.
Backyard rules, built for our indoor facility.
These are the current planned rules for league play. Final rules will be confirmed before the season begins.
Ceiling Is Live
The ceiling is in play. If the ball hits the ceiling, continue to play the ball live unless another rule applies.
Home Runs
A line drive above the blue wall that does not hit the ceiling is a home run.
Ground-Rule Double
A ball that hits the ceiling and then hits the back net above the blue wall is a ground-rule double.
Three Outs
Each team receives three outs per half inning.
No Peg Outs
Players may not throw the ball at a runner to record an out. Pitcher's poison will be used instead.
Plays at Home
On a play at home plate, hitting the designated strike zone with the ball can record the out.
Game Limit
Games are scheduled for six innings or a maximum of 50 minutes. No new inning will begin once the 50-minute limit has been reached.
Mercy Rule
A 10-run mercy rule applies after four innings.
Standings
League standings will track wins, losses, and ties. A win earns 2 points, a tie earns 1 point, and a loss earns 0 points.
Starting Count
Each plate appearance begins with a 1–1 count.
Blaze Launchpad may make reasonable adjustments to the rules, scheduling format, roster structure, or postseason format based on registration totals and operational needs.
